Play is the beginning of knowledge, leadership and sportsmanship. Camaraderie, compassion and courage are closely interwoven in the school's curriculum, through sports.
The school provides students with numerous sports facilities:
- Basket Ball Court
- Table Tennis Court
- Volley Ball Courts
- Three Badminton Courts
- Skating Rink
- Shooting Range
- Fitness Centre
The sports are played under the guidance of specialized coaches. Inter-Class/House matches are held from time to time. The school teams also participate in the Inter-School and Zonal matches. Every year "Sports Day" is held during which the students show their talent in various sports.
Physical Education In School Curriculum
“ Physical Education is the part of general education programme, which is concerned with growth, development and education of the child as a whole by means of physical activities.”
Physical Training ( PT ) Period
- During these classes, students are taught the basics of physical activities.
- Warming up techniques like jogging, running, jumping, stretching, sprints, calisthenics etc are practiced.
- Then specific warming up practices i.e. particular to the sport that is to be played are done.
- Types of sports – Basketball, volleyball, Table -Tennis, Badminton, Hand Ball, Throw Ball, Kho-Kho, Dodgeball, Soccer are played. These are played as matches among students. They are taught the rules and regulations as per the national and international standards. We prepare students for the above games for competitions in the school, Zonal, Inter-Zone, State, CBSE and Open competitions.
Physical Education - Subject for XI and XII
- some students select Physical Education as a subject in XI and XII.
- According to the time table allotted, in their theory classes, they are taught the subjects as in particular sports (their rules, awards etc.) as part of the syllabus.
- There is a particular period for practical where in sports, races, long jumps etc. are practiced.
Regular written and practical exams are held as per schedule.
Art Activities, Music, Drama -As A Part of School Curriculum
Art (VI- VIII) – A single period was allotted to Art .
The subjects that are usually taken up in Art period are as follows:
- Composition on daily life – In the class room, fetes, market place, rainy day, in the canteen and so on.
- Composition on social issues – Terrorism, save the environment, save wild life etc.
- Composition on current affairs – Olympics, Common Wealth games etc.
- Composition on festivals – Diwali, Holi, Christmas, Republic Day, Independence Day etc.
Music and Drama ( VI – XI) – Music and Drama have been granted the status of SUPW period hence only a handful of children are exposed to them (A double period per week )
Indian Music/ Dance/ Western Music – In class VI one section gets bifurcated into 3 groups and go for their respective activities. A single period has been allotted per week for the same.
